Marry Me – The cute V-Day Rom Com we need!

Marry Me was such a cute little romantic comedy just in time for Valentine’s day. When music sensation Kat Valdez (JLO) and Bastian (Maluma) hit single, “Marry Me,” climbs the charts, the power couple decides to tie the knot at a concert that will be streamed to millions of people worldwide.

Unfortunately and unbeknownst to Kat, Bastian has been caught on candid camera having a steamy love affair with her assistant, and instead of marrying him, she picks out a random man holding a Marry Me sign in the crowd and marries him instead.

(from left) Parker (Sarah Silverman), Lou (Chloe Coleman) and Charlie Gilbert (Owen Wilson) in Marry Me, directed by Kat Coiro.

This man is regular degular Charlie Gilbert (Owen Wilson), an old school, anti-social media math teacher who got dragged to the concert by his daughter and friend. What the world thinks is just a crazy impulsive gimmick, turns into a weirdly romantic loving relationship between Charlie and Kat.

“Well you haven’t lived unless you’ve failed”

JLO as Kat Valdez

While Marry Me is nothing new under the sun it was still such a cute love story. I was in my living room chocking back tears a few times in this movie because one thing JLO can do is act out a scene! The cry she let out after finding out Bastian cheated on her was enough to make me want to put on my boxing gloves to go find him!

JLO and Owen Wilson are ROM-COM veterans sooooo the chemistry between them makes this such a believable plot because it really felt like something we would see in real life. Owen played an amazing math teacher and JLO played herself. I don’t think there was a better duo for this movie.

This movie showed us that we should not be quick to settle. Just because the world or people in your life tell you that this is the right path for you, you ultimately need to listen to your heart and do what you feel is best. In the movie, we see Kat about to take Bastian back but as she still sees signs of him flirting with other women she realizes that the guy who treated her right from day one was at a math competition.

Go ahead and grab your warmest blanket and tune into Marry Me now streaming on Peacock!
