“Book! Darling, come to mummy.” The Unofficial Hocus Pocus Cookbook for Kids: by Bridget Thoreson

It is day one of the spookiest month of the year, and I’ve come to bring you and your littles a treat to kick off the festivities! Join the Sanderson Sisters in your own “torture chamber” and whip up some spellbinding goodies in this first-ever Hocus Pocus cookbook designed for kid chefs. The Unofficial Hocus Pocus Cookbook for Kids, written by Bridget Thoreson, has over 50 recipes inspired by the original movie and its sequel.

Young witches and wizards will learn to conjure Magicae “Mac”-xima n’ Cheese; Harvest Vegetable Pizza; “A Good Zombie” Toast; Life Potion Punch; Fully Charged Crystal Candy, and more!

Legend says if you keep reading, you’ll learn all about Bridget’s love for Halloween!

What inspired you to create The Unofficial Hocus Pocus Cookbook for Kids?

In 2021, my long-lasting love for Hocus Pocus inspired me to write The Unofficial Hocus Pocus Cookbook. The amazing reader response to that book, the massive amount of fun I had writing it, and the brand-new experience of starting to cook with my young daughter all combined to inspire me to write the follow-up cookbook specifically for kids!

What’s your favorite thing about Halloween?

I love seeing the creative costumes people come up with–not just what they dress up as, but how they execute it! And now that I have a young child, it is really fun to come up with costume ideas for her. So far, she has been a pineapple and Ted Lasso!

What’s your favorite Halloween tradition?

Of course, it is watching Hocus Pocus! I watch it at least twice every season, but the first viewing is always special–I wait for exactly the right night (fall weather, maybe a little rainy) and get exactly the right snacks (this depends on my mood), and settle in for a good, nostalgic time.

Make sure to snag a copy of the cookbook and round up the littles in your life to craft some fun kitchen magic just in time for Halloween!
